Natalia's Dots is a program of dot to dot puzzles which can help children learn the alphabet and the numbers one through twenty-six. It is recommended for ages 2 to 6. Version 3.1 contains almost 70 puzzles, many of which include animation. Most puzzles are in color.
Version 3.1.1 fixes a problem so that now Natalia's Dots works correctly with System 8.
Version 3.1 adds some new puzzles.
Please note that Natalia's Dots 3.1 no longer supports small screen sizes (Mac Plus and Classic size.) I wanted to make some of the pictures bigger so now a sceen resolution of 640x480 is the mininum recommended.
New in version 3.0:
1. A "Speed" menu now controls the speed of some animations. Natalia's Dots should now work well no matter how fast your Mac is. Younger children seem to appreciate the slowest setting of this menu, as they can then watch some of the drawings develop before their eyes.
2. The screen refresh problems have been eliminated. Now if a screen saver takes over the screen while Natalia's Dots is running, the circles (or drawing) will reappear when you move the mouse. Not all connecting lines will reappear, but the child will now be able to continue with the remainder of the puzzle.
3. The old "Volume" menu settings, which controlled the sound volume, has been incorporated into the "Sound" menu.
Versions 2.8 and 3.0 contain an improved "Hint" feature. When a child presses any key, the next number or letter will flash and Natalia's digitized voice will say the number or letter. It is also possible to change several settings during the course of the program. All sound setting changes take place immediately. However, several other changes (such as changing from uppercase to lowercase or numbers via the Labels menu, from 9 point to 24 point via the Size menu, and from plain to bold via the Style menu) do not take place until the beginning of the next puzzle.
Natalia╒s Dots should have at least 1448K of application memory. It also needs System 6.0.4 or later.
